Our Commitment to diversity and inclusion

Flexible Working

London Wildlife Trust believe in creating a culture of trust, balance and inclusion. We support our colleagues with their work-life balance and outside commitments where possible, offering an enhanced flexible working policy available on your very first day. We’re open to any suggestions on how we can help you, from part time working, compressed hours, later/earlier start times, extended lunches, job sharing to name a few.

Ex-Offenders and our Talent Policy

London Wildlife Trust is an equal opportunities employer. We have inclusive Talent policy which includes our commitment to offer fair opportunities for all individuals, including ex-offenders. We support the aims on BITC's Ban the Box campaign, which is increasing fair opportunities for people with criminal records to compete for jobs. We will only ask about criminal convictions for roles deemed necessary, for example, where the role may involve working with children. We will only ask at conditional offer stage before conducting an enhanced DBS check. Criminal convictions will not automatically exclude someone from working with us; any previous convictions will be risk assessed depending on their nature and the position applied for. Your information will be treated fairly and confidentially. Please contact hr@wildlondon.org.uk for a copy of our full Talent Policy or to speak to HR confidentially for any help or guidance.

Internships

The National Minimum Wage law allows charities to have unpaid interns, but the sector has faced criticism that the practice takes advantage of those wanting to start their career in the Third Sector, and is a barrier to those unable to work for free. London Wildlife Trust’s previous approach to internships – paying travel and lunch expenses – wasn’t as fair as it could have been. We now recognise that those who couldn’t afford to work for free were locked out of the opportunity to gain essential experience with us, and as a result we weren’t getting the diversity of talent that the organisation needs in order to continue to do great work now and in the future. We’ve taken advice from fair internships campaigners and we no longer accept unpaid internships at London Wildlife Trust.

Overseas Candidates

Unfortunately, London Wildlife Trust is unable to consider overseas candidates who require sponsorship to work in the UK. If you have a question on your right to work in the UK please contact the Home Office
